VPD - Opinion on Alarms

The following is from the VPD Crime Prevention Website....

An alarm system is intended to detect a burglary, but it will not necessarily prevent one. A system is only as good as its user and should be installed along with good physical security reinforcement, deadbolt locks, adequate lighting, secured windows and strong exterior doors.

There are two types of alarms: monitored and unmonitored. An unmonitored alarm may mean you rely on your neighbours to call the police, which may or may not happen. As for a monitored alarm, it is possible for thieves to cut the phone lines before they enter, which disables the alarm.

As always we believe the best use of  an alarm is at night, so if your home has been breached you can quickly make a 911 call.

Heart Broken

Heart Broken.

Seriously.

Not cracked, not wounded. Definitely not just wounded. Not lacerated. But gushing, bleeding, hemorraghing pain oh yes.  On so many levels.

Hard to believe a normal productive member of society can be so undone by A GAME.

A GAME.

But its not a just a game, it was a season, a season where all aspects of the game were won. From goal scoring, to power play, to defence, goals saving, where injuries and answering depth and heart and winning were triumphant.

And then the playoffs. A series, and a series and a series and a series. Convincing wins!  Belief! The waiting!

The better team of this series won tonight!  Boston Bruins Congratulations!

But so proud of you Canucks, your team has given so much entertainment and pleasure and heart stopping moments. So many times you have dug deep and come out with the cherished win. Teamwork, hardwork, levelheadedness, passion and drive. Wow! A Thank You from the bottom of my heart!

Heart broken for me.

Heart broken for you the team, the loss and sacrifice of players and family, the unfairness, thats all I will say, the harshness of the naysayers, the challenge of doing it all over again, intact.  And you will.

And tonight for the pain and embarrassment of a province and a city, this most beautiful city, disgraced by violence, has shown the world it's ugly underbelly. Lots of ugly postings out there, saying we are smug and deserve what we have gotten. But smugness and entitlement has never been what we are about.

Try independence, uniqueness, and guts!  Living on the edge of the ocean with mountain ranges separating us from the rest and at the last stop on the railway line, independence has been our way of life, we rely upon ourselves. Maybe we have become too insular. Are we too separate?

I remember our earlier Olympic joy and laughter and pride, only too willing to share it with the world.

The people responsible for this violence should have to pay.

If not, it truly is a heart broken loss.

Thieves Took Everything

Today we received a despondent phone call from a business owner on King George Hwy in Surrey, who came to work today to find everything in his ladies clothing store gone! Everything!

The business opened a few months ago but he neglected to make arrangements for his store's security. A difficult and costly mistake because even though insurance will cover that loss, he now has nothing to sell until the arrival of fall fashions. We felt very sorry for his loss.

A reminder for Business Owners, as you budget for product, advertising, fixtures, signage,  please don't forget to include the security products that will enable you to prevent this kind of loss and enable you to carry on your business.

Never forget that thieves in this town are always on the lookout for a new business opportunities too!

Well we survived the move from hell!

Three days of hefting and toting are over thank heavens and we are now in our new location on 176th Street in Cloverdale. We are happy with our larger office and showroom and bigger production area, easier freeway access will make our response time faster and more efficient.

But... we are seriously overstocked on used product.  We are always pretty busy and sometimes items just accumulate without the time to clear them out. And moving is always the best time to go through things and get rid of excess.  So if you need window bars, gates, metal grids and are not feeling too fussy but do want them to work, then we have a very good deal for you.

The shop will be in production tomorrow, Monday, but we will be organizing and setting up all week. Do come by and see us in our new location or just give us a call at 604 501-1288

RobberStoppers is now located at Unit 108 17665 66A Ave, directly on 176th Street just past the Rodeo grounds.
